WiDS Alexandria is an independent event organized by Ehsan Shams as a part of the annual global Women in Data Science (WiDS) Conference held at Stanford University and an estimated 200+ locations worldwide.
All genders are invited to attend WiDS regional events, which feature outstanding women doing outstanding work.
The Women in Data Science (WiDS) initiative aims to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide, regardless of gender, and to support women in the field. WiDS started as a one-day technical conference at Stanford in November 2015. Six years later, WiDS is a global movement that includes a number of worldwide initiatives:​

A conference with 200+ regional events worldwide in more than 50 countries, reaching 100,000 participants annually online and in person.

A datathon, encouraging participants to hone their skills using a social impact challenge

A podcast series, featuring data science leaders from around the world talking about their work, their journeys, and lessons learned along the way.

An education outreach program to encourage secondary school students to consider careers in data science, artificial intelligence (AI), and related fields.

Ehsan Shams
Ehsan is a master's student at Alexandria University who is doing the mathematics to help you make optimal decisions. She loves both abstract and computational mathematics. She is currently working as a mathematics teaching assistant at the College of Engineering, AASTMT in Alexandria. Her dominant personality traits are openness to experience and extraversion.

Ruba Morsi
Ruba holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Cairo University and holds a diploma in mathematics from ICTP, Italy. She is interested in mathematics and all its related applied fields. She is currently working as a data analyst and she is always looking for opportunities to learn new things.

Omar Salama
Omar holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics and mathematics from Alexandria University. He completed the 2018/2019 Cairo Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CILAS) year-long program in Alexandria. He has taught mathematics and science in Egypt and Kuwait respectively. Omar currently coordinates the activities of CILAS in Alexandria.
